Introduction
I’m continually amazed at how easily we, as Christians, overlook the weight and seriousness of the spiritual battle raging around us. A very real war is being fought in the unseen realm—and Satan and his demons are at the front lines, waging relentless warfare against us.
The enemy’s mission is brutal and simple: to punish, to destroy, and to derail our walk with God. He wants to make our journey with Christ miserable—filled with pain, confusion, and discouragement—hoping we’ll eventually abandon our calling. He never rests. Day and night, he prowls like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. And he won’t stop until the day we go home to be with the Lord.
If we truly grasped this reality, our lives would reflect it. We would live with urgency, guarding our hearts and minds with intention. We would cling tightly to Christ, knowing that as we draw near to Him, the enemy flees. We would fall to our knees in prayer, ensuring that our minds are aligned with truth and our hearts remain surrendered. We would suit up daily in the full armor of God, not as a symbolic gesture, but as a vital necessity for survival.
Yet every day, many Christians walk out into the world unaware—or unconcerned—that the enemy is waiting at the door. We step into enemy territory unarmed, distracted, and spiritually indifferent. And that’s not just careless—it’s disrespectful. We dishonor God, who lovingly warned us of the danger. And we dismiss the seriousness of the enemy’s attacks, treating spiritual warfare like a myth or an afterthought.
No wonder so many Christians become victims rather than victors. We don’t grow—we retreat. We check out of the battle and pretend the war doesn’t exist. But pretending doesn’t make it go away.
The truth is: whether you realize it or not, you're in a war. Every believer is. And in this war, you’re either fighting or compromising. If you’re fighting, you’re growing stronger, pressing forward, and walking in victory. But if you’re compromising, you’re losing ground—and the enemy is winning.
In this section, we’ll explore the spiritual warfare Christians face—the nature of the battle, the battlefield we stand on, the weapons God has given us, and the enemies we confront, along with their tactics and schemes.
