Evidence for God’s Existence
Life outside of Christ is existance without purpose
Exploring the signs of a Creator in our world and within ourselves.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands." – Psalm 19:1
Introduction
No one can prove or disprove the existence of God. The most we can do is present evidence and arguments for His existence. Below are key pieces of evidence that point to a Creator, though there are countless other Books & Links for deeper exploration.
Evidence of the Universe
- Existence of the Universe: That there is something rather than nothing suggests a Creator. The universe’s precise laws and constants indicate a purposeful design. "For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen." – Romans 1:20
- Designer: The complexity and order of life and the fine-tuning of nature strongly imply an intelligent Designer.
Historical Evidence
- Jesus’ Existence: Documented by historians, Jesus’ life and teachings provide historical support for God’s presence in the world.
- The Bible: This sacred text contains prophecies and accounts of divine interaction, standing the test of time. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." – 2 Timothy 3:16
- The Disciples’ Transformation: Ordinary people became passionate advocates for Christ, even under persecution, evidencing divine influence.
Morality
- The existence of moral law implies a moral Lawgiver—God. Without a transcendent source, morality becomes relative. "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." – Micah 6:8
- Disagreements about right and wrong, even with societal consensus, reveal the human struggle to define morality apart from God.
Origins of Language
Language complexity is another sign of divine origin. Either it evolved from simple sounds or, as Scripture states, God created it. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." – John 1:1
Origin of Love
Love, a profound human experience, points to God as its source. "God is love." – 1 John 4:8
The Purposelessness of Life Without God
Life without God struggles to find ultimate meaning. Our efforts are temporary and fragile, like sandcastles washed away by tides, showing the need for a divine purpose.
The War Within
Human nature embodies conflict: independence versus longing, knowledge versus uncertainty, rebellion versus the desire for belonging. This duality reflects our resistance to God and the spirit striving to return to Him. "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." – Matthew 26:41
The Mountain
One man says to another, “Do you see that mountain on the map?”
The other man replies, “That massive mountain right there?”
“Yes,” he says. “How long do you think it would take you to climb it?”
The man studies its distance and height and answers, “Probably years—if I even made it at all. It looks dangerous. It could cost me my life.”
The first man then asks, “What if I told you there was a treasure at the top of that mountain—wealth beyond anything you could imagine? And what if I told you there is a man up there who guards it, and all you have to do is bow before him to receive it. Would you go then?”
The second man shakes his head. “No. I wouldn’t believe you.”
“But what if I showed you evidence that others had found great wealth there?”
Again, he answers, “No. I’m not risking my life or abandoning everything I know based on evidence alone. And I will not bow to a stranger. I need proof.”
How much do we really want to know if God exists?
Would we be willing to climb the mountain if it meant surrendering everything?
Would we bow our lives in humility if we discovered He is real?
Would we ask forgiveness for living as though He were not there?
Would we give our lives to live for His glory?
Or is it something deeper that holds us back?
Is it truly a lack of evidence—or is it the unwillingness to surrender our autonomy?
We want independence to matter. We want our own story to be in control, or at least to have a leading role in it. And it is this very desire that so often resists God.
No amount of evidence can move a heart that refuses to surrender. Not because truth is absent, but because the door is closed from the inside.
Pride blinds. Self-will hardens. And what we refuse to yield becomes what we cannot see.
Even Satan knows God exists—yet pride keeps him in darkness.
So the question is not only, “Is there proof at the top of the mountain?”
The deeper question is, “What in us refuses to climb?”
Is it pride that blinds us? Is it self that stands in the way of truth? Or is it our own unwillingness to surrender that keeps us from discovering what is at the top of the mountain?
Would you humble yourself before God in order to know that He is real? This is what He asks of us—not proof on our terms, but surrender of our pride.
The beautiful truth is that God does not ask us to climb a mountain. He simply asks us to open the door in faith— and that is when He comes down to meet us, right where we are at.
