Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
Finding peace in the heart of God’s love
When a person finds salvation, they begin to experience true rest. The depth of that rest depends on the strength of their relationship with Jesus—but finally, real rest begins.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
We find rest from running—from the shame of our sin and the person we once were but never wanted to be. Instead, we live in the love of Jesus, forgiven and made new.
With His love and forgiveness, we no longer waste our lives chasing healing through unhealthy means, because the healing has already begun in Him. Once we are no longer defined by our past, we stop turning to the world to fix what only God can heal.
In Christ, we receive both His love and His guidance. We no longer have to wander through life searching for what only He can provide. No more chasing empty paths that lead to pain and dead ends.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures.” — Psalm 23:1–2
We are filled with His love, led by our Shepherd, no longer driven by the emptiness that once pushed us to seek fulfillment in others. And we no longer walk in confusion—for Christ goes before us, showing the way.
We find rest from the need to seek approval from others, because we’ve been fully accepted by a perfect God—just as we are.
No more striving to please people. No more becoming someone we were never meant to be or walking paths that were never ours to take. In His acceptance, we find freedom to become who He created us to be.
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? … If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” — Galatians 1:10
We also find rest from the prison this world can so easily become. We're no longer bound by the pressure to be famous, wealthy, successful, married, or to leave behind a legacy in our own name.
Our identity is no longer defined by the world, but by the God who sees us—and loves us unconditionally.
We find rest from the bondage of misplaced worship—no longer idolizing family, friends, ourselves, our talents, or material possessions. None of these were ever meant to carry the weight of our devotion. They cannot save us, fulfill us, or lead us to life.
“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” — 1 John 5:21
The endless search for meaning and the fear of what comes after this life are gone. In Christ, we have a Teacher who guides us into truth and helps us understand what once seemed beyond our grasp.
We have a sure destiny—a future with our Father in His eternal kingdom.
All we truly need to understand is how to walk with God, to be taught by Him, and to see His love more clearly. The more we grasp His love, the more secure we become in staying on the path that leads to Him.
The journey of faith is not without struggle. Letting go of the world, growing in trust, and surrendering daily are often difficult—but the deeper we surrender, the greater our rest. And in that rest, we find life as it was always meant to be.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” — Isaiah 26:3
“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works.” — Hebrews 4:9-10
