Who Is God?

When you know the Creator, you understand the creation

Encountering the One Beyond All Comprehension

What I know about God is limited. How can anyone describe the One who transcends words, defying every attempt to capture His essence? How do you explain perfection when, as humans, we have never fully experienced it? God has always existed and always will (Revelation 1:8). He knows everything, is always right, and never wrong. He is so far beyond our finite minds that we can never fully comprehend who He is (Psalm 145:3).

This is the God who speaks creation into existence—the waters, sky, and sun obey His voice (Genesis 1:3). He is spirit, yet three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). He is omnipotent—possessing unlimited power without limitation (Jeremiah 32:17); omnipresent—existing everywhere at once while remaining distinct from the universe (Psalm 139:7-8); and omniscient—knowing all things, past and future (1 John 3:20).

The Source of All That Is Good

God is the origin of all love, truth, and existence (1 John 4:8; John 14:6). Everything He created exists for His purposes (Colossians 1:16). To oppose Him is to embrace error, like claiming 2 + 2 equals 5. God must be perfect in every sense, capable of all things except contradicting His own nature (Numbers 23:19).

When God spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:14, He revealed Himself simply: “I AM WHO I AM.” In that statement, He declared that His essence cannot be fully explained. To describe Himself in detail would take more than a lifetime—it would be beyond human comprehension.

Relationship Unlocks Understanding

If you truly want to know who God is, it must be through a personal relationship with Him (Jeremiah 9:23-24). Without that relationship, you have not experienced true love, truth, or peace (Philippians 4:7). Your closeness to Him determines how fully you can understand and live in these realities. The farther you are from Him, the more you live in shadows and half-truths.

In my own walk with God, I once mistook false perceptions for reality. My knowledge was small—like seeing only a few feet ahead—while God’s wisdom stretches to infinity (Isaiah 55:8-9). I was looking through the eye of a needle, while He sees the entire picture. I’m still learning how vast and incredible He is, and I know I’ve only scratched the surface.

The Only True Answer

To begin to understand God, you must encounter Him for yourself (Psalm 34:8). True knowledge of Him is not gained through facts alone but through knowing Him personally (John 17:3). The answer to every question is ultimately found in Him—He is the well of truth, the source of love, and the standard of all that is right.
