Your True Self Is Found in Him

When you know the Creator, you understand the creation

Finding Yourself & Your Purpose

What if your true self isn’t something you have to create—but something already known by the One who made you?

Created with Purpose

In God, we discover who we were created to be and the purpose for which we were placed in this world.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Avoiding the Call: How Fear Held Me Back

For much of my life, I avoided challenges out of fear and discomfort. But when God entered my life, He began leading me through doors I never would have approached on my own. Each time I followed Him in faith, I was surprised to find joy on the other side. I began doing things I once thought I wasn’t capable of—and to my amazement, I enjoyed them. With every step, God revealed parts of me I had never known. I began to discover a new version of myself—the one He had always intended.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5–6 (NIV)

A Sensitive Heart: From Shame to Purpose

As a child, I was naturally sensitive. But growing up in a macho Latin home, my father often discouraged that trait. He warned me not to be too soft, and over time, I learned to suppress that part of myself. Sadly, when my sensitivity did show, it often surfaced in frustration or hurt. But God showed me something beautiful: my sensitivity wasn’t a flaw—it was a gift. When directed outward in compassion, it became a strength. I came to see that this quality had been given to me for a purpose—to reflect God’s heart—not something to be hidden or ashamed of.

“The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.” – Psalm 116:5 (NIV)

The Father’s Love: Healing from a Harsh Voice

I also carried wounds from my upbringing. When my father asked me to do tasks, no matter how hard I tried, it never seemed good enough. He would criticize even the smallest mistakes, often losing patience and raising his voice. It left me feeling defeated.

But God is not like that. When He gives us something to do, He looks at our heart. He sees our effort, our sincerity, and our desire to grow. He teaches with gentleness and endless patience.

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” – Psalm 103:8 (NIV)

God’s View: Seeing Myself Through His Eyes

In His love, I began to discover gifts and abilities I never realized I had. I stopped measuring myself by human standards and started to see myself through God’s eyes.

“People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” – Song of Solomon 4:7 (NIV, symbolic of God’s love for His people)

I no longer chased a fragile self-esteem based on performance or approval. Instead, I began walking in God-esteem—rooted in His love, His calling, and His truth. It brought a stability I had never known.

“The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” – Proverbs 29:25 (ESV)

Living for Glory: Purpose Beyond Performance

Through a relationship with God, we are shaped into the character of Christ—but we also become the unique person He created us to be. We begin to understand why we’re here: not just to succeed in the world’s eyes, but to glorify Him. Whatever job or place He leads us into becomes an opportunity to reflect His goodness and fulfill our true purpose—living for His glory.

“And we all… are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

Bearing Fruit: Blessed to Be a Blessing

We are faithful branches, bearing His fruit so the world may taste and see that the Lord is good. We are blessed because we have God—and we are blessed so we can be a blessing to others.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” – John 15:5 (NIV)

“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” – Psalm 34:8 (NIV)

“I will bless you… and you will be a blessing.” – Genesis 12:2 (NIV)

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” — Jeremiah 29:13
